The Tour will showcase five homes in the Historic District on a circular rote through Denver’s Capitol Hill neighborhood along 7th Avenue and on East 10th Avenue and Marion Street.

Denver Named One of “America’s 10 Best Places to Grow Up”

It seems that Denver-area children are a lucky bunch! US News and World Report recently named Denver as one of “America’s 10 Best Places to Grow Up” out of 2,000 different areas across the country. The magazine set out to determine which cities had the best ingredients to raise a child in, including a low crime rate, a strong school system, lots of other children to play with, expansive green spaces to play in, and plenty of family events to choose from.

According to the magazine, Denver was chosen based on this assessment: “Whether they prefer snowboarding in the Rocky Mountains, biking through America’s largest city park system, or heading over to Invesco Field at Mile High for a Broncos football game, Denver is a wonderful place to be a kid. Also among the country’s safest big cities, Denver has 300 days of annual sunshine, eight different professional sports franchises, and countless opportunities for fishing, white-water rafting, and horseback riding.”

Wow, thanks for all of the compliments to our great city, US News and World Report! We couldn’t agree with you more. For information on relocating to the Denver area, or regarding Denver real estate, please contact TeamCox Realtors at 303-400-6060.

Piney Creek Women’s League 4th of July Parade and Picnic

Piney Creek 4th of JulyYou can always count on the Piney Creek Women’s League’s (PCWL) annual Independence Day celebration to be a wonderful, family-friendly event. It is the PCWL’s only fundraising opportunity of the year, so it is rewarding to see everyone in the community support these hard-working women.  Of course, who can resist an old-fashioned picnic – sniffing the aroma of grilling hot dogs, while reconnecting with old friends at the park.  It was especially gratifying to see three generations of the Riddle family – Cindy and John, Cindy’s parents, Pat and Nolan Drury, and one of the three Riddle sons, Josh – who have made this an annual must-attend family event ever year.

While the first stop for the kids is almost always the dunk tank and bouncing castle, these popular spots had new competition this year – free face painting by PCWL member, Sandy Myers.

Arapahoe County Sheriff’s deputies, Amir Stephen and his partner, Brian McKnight, were on hand to help with crowd control and to mingle with the public. This is a great public service that the sheriff’s department provides us every year. It was so great to see the deputies mingling with our young guests, and as a result of this social exposure, the children hopefully came away with a new perspective and a newfound respect of law enforcement.

Of course, one of the biggest highlights of the day was Buckley Air National Guard’s fly-over. It was a thrill to look up and see three jets flying over the Piney Creek clubhouse!  A quick tip of the wings and they were off into the wild blue yonder.
  .
Hats off to event chairperson, Cindy Reagan.  Cindy and her group of hard working volunteers did a great job of running a well-organized and safe event.  We are looking forward to July 4, 2010!

The event will run from June 5th to July 5th – to be held on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 6pm. The homes on the tour, priced between $1 million and $6 million, showcase multiple Denver-area luxury neighborhoods, including  Belcaro (Denver), Observatory Park  (Denver), South Bonnie Brae (Denver), The Timbers (Parker), Pradera (Parker),  Whisper Canyon (Castle Rock),  Escavera (Castle Rock), The Preserve (Greenwood Village), One Cherry Lane (Greenwood Village), Heritage Hills (Lone Tree),  Cherokee Ridge Estates (Littleton), and many more.

Tickets are priced at $15 for Adults, $12 for Seniors (65+), and Kids 12 and under. Tickets are only available online or at King Soopers – they are not available at the door.

We are truly excited about this event’s new format, since it will allow attendees to get a taste of so many different high-end neighborhoods in the Denver real estate market. Denver’s 103rd Western National Stock Show

It was Western National Stock Show redux last night, and since we had not gone for a couple of years, I was eager to put on my jeans, boots, and pony down to the Denver Stock Yards. The stock show’s 103rd year did not disappoint with its wonderful western costuming and great showmanship. Having once owned a beautiful, but high-strung Arabian, I have a huge appreciation for the discipline of both the horse, the rider, and especially the high level of communication that occurs between the two of them. Our outing was great fun, and I highly recommend it to everyone young and old!
