Aurora, Colorado, Named Among the Most Affordable Places to Retire
U. S. News & World Report Names Aurora, Colorado as One of America’s Most Affordable Places to Retire
There are certainly some nice things being said about Aurora, Colorado. Earlier this year, The Rocky Mountain News singled out Aurora (population: 310,000) as having the best tasting tap water in the Rocky Mountains.
U.S. News & World Report has also named Aurora as one of the country’s most affordable places to retire. Aurora’s median home price of $138,000 certainly makes it more affordable than other areas. It is approximately $40,000 less than neighboring Denver.
There are other many other things that make Aurora a desirable retirement destination, including its East End Arts District, the city’s many trails and recreational offerings, and the Aurora Center for Active Adults.Aurora also has excellent medical facilities, including the Anschutz Medical Campus and a new VA Hospital that is currently under construction. So, pour yourself a large glass of some of the best tasting tap water around, and enjoy the good life in Aurora, Colorado.

Information from the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Department

Piney Creek Women’s League 4th of July Parade and Picnic
You can always count on the Piney Creek Women’s League’s (PCWL) annual Independence Day celebration to be a wonderful, family-friendly event. It is the PCWL’s only fundraising opportunity of the year, so it is rewarding to see everyone in the community support these hard-working women. Of course, who can resist an old-fashioned picnic – sniffing the aroma of grilling hot dogs, while reconnecting with old friends at the park. It was especially gratifying to see three generations of the Riddle family – Cindy and John, Cindy’s parents, Pat and Nolan Drury, and one of the three Riddle sons, Josh – who have made this an annual must-attend family event ever year.
While the first stop for the kids is almost always the dunk tank and bouncing castle, these popular spots had new competition this year – free face painting by PCWL member, Sandy Myers.
Arapahoe County Sheriff’s deputies, Amir Stephen and his partner, Brian McKnight, were on hand to help with crowd control and to mingle with the public. This is a great public service that the sheriff’s department provides us every year. It was so great to see the deputies mingling with our young guests, and as a result of this social exposure, the children hopefully came away with a new perspective and a newfound respect of law enforcement.
Of course, one of the biggest highlights of the day was Buckley Air National Guard’s fly-over. It was a thrill to look up and see three jets flying over the Piney Creek clubhouse! A quick tip of the wings and they were off into the wild blue yonder.
.
Hats off to event chairperson, Cindy Reagan. Cindy and her group of hard working volunteers did a great job of running a well-organized and safe event. We are looking forward to July 4, 2010!

TeamCox Realtors’ Newest Listing – Pristine Perfection in Piney Creek
5402 S. Helena St.
Centennial, CO 80015
Piney Creek
Welcome home. Welcome to perfection. It is a rare occurrence for us to list a home that does not require some level of interior or exterior staging, but we are pleased to report that our newest listing in Piney Creek falls into this pristine category.
Contrary to what the meticulously maintained home’s interior and exterior suggests, the homeowners, Greg and Diana, are not interior designers, home stagers or master horticulturists. Throughout the ten years that they have lived in their home, they have done everything possible to maximize the home’s beauty and potential. Now that the canvas has been completed, they are ready to move on to another home to fully develop that home’s possibilities.
It is evident that Greg and Diana understand the importance of a great floor plan when you walk through the Richmond 4-bedroom Orion Model. This popular floor plan is every busy Mom’s dream, boasting a main floor study, a formal living and dining room, and a family room immediately adjacent to the kitchen. And, every Sunday can be Father’s Day with the home’s side-yard putting green and its truly spectacular flowering cutting beds.
This is your Stay Vacation Paradise! When summer is over, and school starts, the kids will attend award-winning Indian Ridge Elementary, Laredo Middle School, Smoky Hill High School, all within coveted Cherry Creek School Schools, or nearby Regis High School. The neighborhood is also near public transportation, including the bus and light rail, and it is a short distance to Southlands, Cornerstone, and to Park Meadows Malls.
