Denver Luxury Home Tour Starts This Week!
The Parade of Homes has gotten a facelift this year– it has a new name (Denver Luxury Home Tour), it is being held much earlier in the summer, and the homes are scattered throughout the Denver metro area, not just at one site.
The event will run from June 5th to July 5th – to be held on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 6pm. The homes on the tour, priced between $1 million and $6 million, showcase multiple Denver-area luxury neighborhoods, including Belcaro (Denver), Observatory Park (Denver), South Bonnie Brae (Denver), The Timbers (Parker), Pradera (Parker), Whisper Canyon (Castle Rock), Escavera (Castle Rock), The Preserve (Greenwood Village), One Cherry Lane (Greenwood Village), Heritage Hills (Lone Tree), Cherokee Ridge Estates (Littleton), and many more.
Tickets are priced at $15 for Adults, $12 for Seniors (65+), and Kids 12 and under. Tickets are only available online or at King Soopers – they are not available at the door.
We are truly excited about this event’s new format, since it will allow attendees to get a taste of so many different high-end neighborhoods in the Denver real estate market. For more information on the Denver Luxury Home Tour, please contact TeamCox Realtors at 303-400-6060. You can also visit the Tour’s website, which has detailed information.

Denver Area Tornadoes Welcome the DNC
Well, Denver residents were expecting a whirlwind during the DNC! Three tornadoes touched down southeast of Denver yesterday, on the eve of the DNC. One of the tornadoes, which touched down near the Rueter-Hess Reservoir in Parker, was about a mile from my house. The tornado spotting gave my family quite a scare! Two more tornadoes also touched down in Douglas County near Castle Rock and Parker yesterday evening.* Photo is courtesy of Leslie Stoops, who lives in Parker’s Antelope Heights neighborhood.
Castle Rock Recognized for its Fabulous Parks and Recreation Program
Castle Rock named a finalist for the most coveted parks and recreation award in the country
TeamCox Realtors would like to congratulate Castle Rock, Colorado, on being named as one of the four finalists (with a population between 25,000 and 50,000), for the most notable parks and recreation award in the country, the National Recreation and Parks Administration’s 2008 Gold Medal Award
The award, which honors communities excelling in “long-range planning, resource management, volunteerism, environmental stewardship, program development, professional development and agency recognition,” will be awarded in October. This coveted nomination is no surprise, considering the fact that Castle Rock boasts a variety of recreational amenities, thousands of acres of open space, over 200 acres of park space, 34 miles of trails, and a state-of-the-art recreation center.

Rueter-Hess Reservoir Brightens Parker’s Already Vivid Future
Rueter-Hess Reservoir will add to Parker's recreational opportunities while boasting its water supply
TeamCox Realtors often recommends Parker, Colorado, to our homebuyers since the southern Denver suburb appeals to almost everyone – first time buyers to young families to empty nesters. The charming town and its surrounding neighborhoods offer a unique blend of small-town charm blended with the conveniences of being near a large city.
Yesterday’s Denver Post featured an article about the future Rueter-Hess Reservoir, slated to be 50 percent larger than the Cherry Creek Reservoir, which is under construction near Parker. This reservoir brightens Parker’s already vivid future, since it will add to the area’s existing charm and recreational opportunities, while boasting its water supply. Planning for the reservoir began in 1985, as the Parker Water and Sanitation District sought to improve its long-term water supply.
Projected to be completed in 2011, the Rueter-Hess Reservoir will provide water to the Town of Parker, in addition to surrounding Douglas County areas, including Stonegate, Castle Pines North and Castle Rock. While the recreation plans for the reservoir haven’t been finalized, there are plans to include fishing and non-motorized boating, including canoes and rowboats. In addition, approximately 2,000 acres of land will be set aside for wildlife, hiking, and biking trails.
Are you thinking about moving to the Parker area? TeamCox Realtors has extensive knowledge of the Parker real estate market, so please free to contact us at 303-400-6060.

Denver Metro Area Crime Statistics
Before Settling on a Denver Neighborhood, Check Out Crime Statistics
TeamCox Realtors begins every new client meeting with an orientation in front of a large metro Denver area map. During this initial orientation, we take into consideration the daily work commute of family members, school considerations and access to light rail and shopping. Often the relocating family will want to know about recreational facilities, churches and quite specifically crime statistics. These are very normal concerns for a relocating family who is unfamiliar with Denver area neighborhoods.
As Realtors®, we must be a bit guarded in our answers. While we cannot guide or steer clients to or from a particular neighborhood, we can direct them to information that is easily accessible online including information on child predators or sex offenders that can be found on the National Sex Offender Registry.

Colorado Continues to Be a Healthy Place to Live
Denver and Other Colorado Cities Strive to Keep Residents Healthy and Active
Colorado continues to be a very healthy place to live. According to a recent study by the Trust for America’s Health, a research group that focuses on disease prevention, Colorado boasts the lowest adult obesity rate and the third-lowest childhood obesity rate in the entire United States. As the obesity epidemic grows at alarming pace, this is great news for our state. Just to give you an idea, Colorado’s obesity rate is a lean 17.9% while last-ranked Mississippi’s obesity rate is 30.6%. In addition, Boulder was recently ranked by Men’s Journal as one of the nation’s healthiest places while Douglas County was recently recognized by Money Magazine as one of the country’s "skinniest" counties. Why is Colorado such a healthy place to live? Coloradoans love the outdoors and the crisp mountain air. They take pride in being active and take full advantage of Colorado’s beautiful surroundings. Colorado also has a relatively mild climate with over 300 days of sunshine per year. And, Denver residents don’t let the cold days of winter deter them from enjoying the outdoors since many of the Rocky Mountain’s world-class ski resorts are less than two hours away. Denver residents are lucky to have one of the most extensive park and recreation systems in the entire country. They are encouraged to be outdoors and stay active and healthy. Many suburban cities also focus on providing top-notch recreational opportunities including Castle Rock, which boasts over 400 acres of parks and open space. Parker also recently opened the 100,000 sq. ft. Parker Fieldhouse, which includes an indoor inline hockey rink and a 25-foot climbing wall. For more information on recreational opportunities in the Denver area and throughout Colorado, please contact TeamCox Realtors.
